Flotation Tank

In wet paint (liquid coating) plants, the use of a flotation tank is critical, especially in the surface preparation and cleaning stages prior to painting. The flotation tank is generally used in the washing and phosphating stages. These tanks are designed to ensure that the chemicals and water used are utilized with maximum efficiency. The important functions of the flotation tank are as follows:

  1. Reduction of Contamination: In the flotation tank, contaminants and particles that form during surface cleaning are floated to the surface and separated. This prevents chemical or water contamination in subsequent stages.

  2. Chemical Savings: Some of the chemicals used are recovered thanks to the flotation tank. This reduces chemical consumption and lowers operating costs.

  3. Efficient Use of Water: Flotation tanks enable water to be used more effectively and economically. This reduces the water consumption of plants, which lowers costs and limits environmental impact.

  4. Improvement of Coating Quality: Removing oil, dirt, or other unwanted substances remaining on the surface in the flotation tank improves paint adhesion and quality.

  5. Process Control: Flotation tanks are also used to control the quality and concentration of fluids during the process, which makes the process more predictable and repeatable.

In conclusion, in wet paint (liquid coating) plants, the flotation tank is an indispensable tool for improving product quality, reducing costs, and increasing process efficiency.
